Construction // The clock tower - Jaffa
Commissioned by: The Ministry of Tourism
Duration: 3 years
Contarct Value: 20M NIS
Project Description:
The "Clock tower Area", which is right at the entrance to Jaffa, is a center of commerce and tourist activity. The project here included restoring the Clock Tower's platform, replacing underground infrastructure, constructing a new plaza and paving the area in natural stone.
This unique style development was most important due to the rich historical value of the place, which was the entrance point of the pilgrims who made their way to Jerusalem. Here too, Shtang had to work in an inhabited, active area, which demanded new traffic regulations and the cooperation of the local merchants.
On top of all this, in order to avoid covering and loosing archeological finds, Shtang worked closely with the Israeli Antiquities Authority before replacing the underground infrastructure system.
